Following is a list of appliances that cause fire. These appliances are the most likely to cause fire due to their heating elements.
Dishwasher are using a heating elements to dry the dishes. Old or defective element can start a fire. Although it is nice to return home to clean dishes, do not start the dishwasher before leaving your home.
As part of the cloths drying process, there is a lint buildup in a dryer. The
lint may catch fire if something goes wrong with the dryer, or when the temperature is very high for a long period of time. Clean the lint often.
Heating or warming food (or other objects) in the microwave for an extended period of time may cause the food/object to dry out and eventually to catch on fire because of the microwave radiation. Make sure that the microwave does not operate for a long period of time.
Toasters have heating elements that toast the bread. Due to faulty mechanism, the toaster may fail to turn off, thus, heating the bread until it is on fire. Do not leave a toaster unattended. Remove the crumbs on the bottom of the toaster regularly. Visually inspect the inside of the toaster for stuck crumbs.
